Privacy policy
The short version: the calculators run in your browser and we never see what you type. We count visits anonymously, with no cookies. We don't collect names or email addresses, and we don't sell anything about anyone.
What you type into the calculators
Every calculation happens on your own device. Your income, your children's ages, your earnings and anything else you enter are never sent to us or to anyone else.
So you don't have to re-enter them on each calculator, your family income and the number of children under 6 and aged 6 to 17 are saved in your browser's local storage, on your device only. Nothing else you type is saved. To remove it, clear this site's data in your browser settings, or browse in a private window, where nothing is kept after you close it.
Anonymous visit counts
We use Vercel Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they use, so we know what to improve. It does not use cookies and does not store anything on your device.
For each page view it records:
- the page you visited and the time;
- the site you came from, if your browser shares it;
- your approximate location (country, province or state, and city, worked out from your IP address);
- your browser, operating system and type of device.
It does not record your IP address, and it can't identify you or follow you to other websites. To count unique visitors, it uses a scrambled value made from your request that is thrown away after 24 hours. We only see totals, such as "120 visitors from Ontario this week", never individual visits. The calculators' numbers are never part of what's recorded.
If you use an ad or tracker blocker, the counting script may not run. The site works the same either way.
Our host
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel's servers process your IP address and basic request details to deliver pages and to protect the site from attacks, and keep short-lived technical logs for that purpose. Vercel is based in the United States, so this information and the visit counts above may be processed outside Canada. See Vercel's privacy policy.
What we don't do
- No cookies, advertising trackers or social media pixels.
- No accounts, sign-ups or forms that send us your details.
- No third-party fonts or scripts: everything loads from toquemoney.ca.
- We don't sell, rent or share information about visitors.
We don't collect email addresses today. If we add a newsletter, we'll update this page to say which service runs it and what it keeps before the sign-up goes live, and it will always be optional.
If you contact us
If you email hello@toquemoney.ca, we use your address and message only to reply, and we delete the conversation when it's no longer needed. If you message us on Instagram, Instagram's own privacy policy applies to that conversation.

We link to Canada.ca and other sources so you can check our figures. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Children
Toque Money is written for parents and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we don't keep personal information about visitors, there's usually nothing for us to show, correct or delete. If you think we hold something about you, or have a question or concern about privacy, email hello@toquemoney.ca. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes
If we change how the site handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
